Welcome to Good Roots Garden! We are a small family-owned business serving East Texas with locally-grown high-quality produce since 2010. We grow everything using sustainable farming practices and without synthetic chemicals.
If you would like to join our CSA for weekly boxes of fresh organic vegetables delivered to the Bergfeld Park area in Tyler or to pick up at our farm in Sardis (near Rusk), sign up information and application forms can be found here.
We are also selling our locally grown produce at the fabulous Nacogdoches Farmers Market on Saturday mornings from 7:30 - 12:00. Come early and get the good stuff while it lasts!

Starting from the top left and going clockwise: New girl and Celebrity tomatoes, rainbow carrots, red and/or green butterhead lettuce, garlic, fennel, Red Ace beets, Genovese basil, wild berries, dinosaur kale, white Bermuda onions
Recipe: Whole Roasted Carrots with Garlic
I chose this recipe because you don’t have to take time to cut up the carrots. It takes an hour to roast but you only have to spend a few minutes prep time. It is adapted from a Food & Wine recipe I saw here: http://www.foodandwine.com/recipes/whole-roasted-carrots-with-garlic
Ingredients
1 pound carrots
1/4 cup water
4 large garlic cloves
1 Tablespoon your favorite oil
1 Tablespoon unsalted butter or Earth Balance (vegan butter substitute)
Salt and freshly ground pepper
Instructions
Scrub carrots and cut off the tips. (I don’t peel them but you can if you prefer.)
Preheat the oven to 400°. In a medium baking dish, combine the carrots with the water, garlic, oil, and butter and season with salt and pepper.
Cover with foil and roast for 30 minutes, until tender. Uncover and roast for about 30 minutes longer, until the water has evaporated and the carrots are lightly browned in spots.
Transfer the carrots and garlic to a plate and serve.
Serves: 4
